Over the past 17 years, the Riverdale Share Concert — a star-studded, grass-roots event held annually each December—has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and truckloads of food for families in crisis in Riverdale. The funds generated from the concert are distributed each subsequent spring to organizations with programs or projects that directly benefit families and individuals in need and that are community-oriented.
Now, for the second time, Riverdale Share will publicly announce the successful recipients and award them with the funds raised from the 2008 concert at a gala dinner and dance entitled BEBOP-A-LOOZA! This night of fun, food and frolic features the amazing RIVERDALE SHARE HOUSE BAND from the Riverdale Share Concert featuring members of the Bebop Cowboys, along with a selection of special musical guests including Michael Brennan, Blair Packham and more. Dinner is presented by the Magic Oven, Second Cup will supply coffee and dessert and Mill St. Brewery will supply the beer. Dance lessons will be available and a silent auction will be in play during the evening as well.
Tickets are only $25.00 after the charitable tax receipt ( $40.00 with a $15.00 tax receipt) for this action packed, fun-filled celebration of community spirit. Tickets must be reserved in advance using a Visa or Mastercard, but then can then be replaced by cash or cheque at the door on the day of the event in order to receive the tax receipt. The 300 plus tickets sold out last year weeks in advance, so act fast. Tables of 10 available - bring all your friends! More information is available by calling (416) 465-1944, or by email: info@riverdaleshare.com.
Stay tuned for updates as we add our musical guests!

The Riverdale Share community is greatly saddened by the sudden passing of our much loved, long-time volunteer and supporter Rick Hand. For as many years as we can remember, Rick has been responsible for converting the Danforth Music Hall into a magical Christmas wonderland for the Annual Riverdale Share Concert. Although the concert always took place during Rick’s busiest season we could always count on him and Quinn to show up bright and early with a big smile and warm hug for everyone. Whatever we asked of him he gave willingly and enthusiastically. Riverdale Share was very close to Rick’s heart and he was very close to ours. He will be missed greatly.
We are extremely touched that Rick’s family, Diane, Quinn and Tyler are asking that donations to Riverdale Share be made in lieu of flowers. The Riverdale Share Community Association supports organizations that support families in crisis in the Riverdale Community (where Rick and Diane lived and raised their kids).

The Mirror Newspaper December 13, 2007 BY NORM NELSON You’d be hard pressed to find a better entertainment bargain then the $10 admission price to last Sunday’s sold-out 16th annual Riverdale Share Christmas Concert at the Danforth Music Hall. After all, where else are you going to get Steve Page of the Barenaked Ladies sharing the spotlight with the Frankland School Choir who sang with him on Hanukkah, Oh, Hanukkah (which he covers on BNL’s Barenaked for the Holidays CD)? Or Canadian icon Murray McLauchlan dedicating one of his early signature songs On the Boulevard to Christmas shoppers and then backing up Lorraine Segato of Parachute Club fame? Residents from Riverdale and beyond obviously agree it’s a bargain as the event, which has now become an institution, as it boasted its earliest ever sell-out date. [Read more →]
